Echoes of the Carpathians
From village dances to intimate modern miniatures, this programme traces the musical heritage of Eastern Europe, with music by Béla Bartók, Zoltán Kodály, György Kurtág, Ernö Dohnányi and Dobrinka Tabakova sitting alongside atmospheric arrangements from Kroke.
Eloisa Fleur Thom (violin) Luba Tunnicliffe (viola) and Clare O’Connell (cello) present a programme which reimagines the string trio not just as three instruments, but as three voices in conversation: sometimes dancing, sometimes arguing, sometimes whispering.
Music to include:
Ernö Dohnányi - String trio
Béla Bartók Romanian Folk dances arr. for string trio by Clare O’Connell
György Kurtág - movements from Signs Games and Messages
Zoltán Kodály - Intermezzo
Dobrinka Tabakova - String Trio: Insight
