A programme celebrating the eloquence, invention and soul of the baroque, inspired by and including Bach’s Partita for solo violin in E major with other works by Alessandro Scarlatti, Domenico Gabrielli, Biagio Marini and Jean-Philippe Rameau.

Join us as we take you full circle from one of the most beloved and virtuosic works for solo violin by JS Bach to one of his deepest chorales, Liebster Jesu, Wir Sind Hier, via works by earlier composers representing the fiery spark of Italian invention and the ornate elegance of the French court.
The programme includes one of the earliest sonatas written for cello by Domenico Gabrielli, a Romanesca for violin by the expressive, mercurial and adventurous composer Biagio Marini, a dramatic sonata for cello by Alessandro Scarlatti, and music from Pièces de clavecin en concerts by Jean-Philippe Rameau, the composer of light.
